We want to give you an update on how Canteen is managing coronavirus (COVID-19) as we’re having to make some changes to the way we provide support in the next few months.
You may be aware that cancer treatment can weaken the body’s immune system, which in turn greatly increases the risk of a health impact of any infection, including coronavirus.
Your health and wellbeing – and that of your loved ones - is our number one priority.
Nothing is changing when it comes to our community here on Canteen Connect. But for those of you who also attend Canteen events IRL or come into any of our offices for appointments, we are making some changes in order to reduce the risk of you or anyone in your family getting sick.
Canteen has decided to:
o postpone face to face programs, Recreation Days and drop-ins for the next three months and run additional online events here on Canteen Connect or via video link instead
o provide all individual support and counselling appointments over the phone, or via video link, online or email
At this stage, we intend to continue offering digital and phone-only services until the end of June, but the situation is constantly changing so we’ll keep reviewing these plans and post any further updates to this discussion. If you have any questions, please comment here or reach out to your key worker.
