Preparing for Father's Day

Counsellors-Canteen

Father’s day can be tough. For some, it can remind you of the fact that your dad is not present - be it through death, illness or the nature of your relationship. For others, this can also be a day to honour your father, or a fatherly figure, in a way that is meaningful to you.

Let’s see what the community has to say about this day, to help each other get through. Comment below with a response to the following:

  • What is unhelpful/helpful for you leading up to this day?
  • How do you usually spend it, has that changed over time?
  • How do you take care of yourself on this day?
  • What is some life advice that your dad gave to you that you would like to share with others?

If you’re hesitating to comment, remember, something that you say might be able to help someone else out there who is feeling confused and alone in the lead up to this Father’s Day…you might just give them the idea that they needed to hear. So let’s show support by putting all the collective wisdom together !

If you’re looking for support on the day - Canteen will be running a group session where you can connect with others who have lost their fathers. RSVP by Sept 3 here: https://canteenconnect.org/events/when-fathers-day-is-tough.
